Concert series?

Catholic United Financial partnered with Catholic musicians to spread the message of music, worship and unity during June 2020.

Every Tuesday in June, Catholic United livestreamed a concert by Catholic performers that is free for all to view. During these concerts, a charity selected by the performers was introduced to the audience and an invitation given to participate in a matching donation program for that charity. Catholic United committed to match total donations, up to $1,000.

How much?

Your virtual ticket is FREE for all performances. Each musician/band will select a charity of their choice which will be featured during the concert. Please consider a freewill donation to these charities to show your support for their efforts in COVID-19 relief. Knowing that these are difficult economic times, Catholic United is excited to sponsor this effort to help both musicians and charities. We will offer a matching grant, totaling $1,000, to match donations made during the concerts through our giving portal.

How do I watch?

All concerts were livestreamed on Catholic United’s Facebook page: facebook.com/catholicunited. Recordings of the concerts are available to view by clicking here or scrolling down this page to the performers listed below.

The Concerts

Aly chose to highlight and raise money for Vagabond Missions during her concert. “Inner-city teens confront a cycle of neglect, violence and broken family life. Vagabond Missions introduces them to Jesus and a loving community by mobilizing missionaries. Through outreach, every inner-city teen can be known, loved and experience hope for their lives.”

Thanks to a matching grant from Catholic United Financial, we raised $1,050!

Vocalist and songwriter Aly Aleigha leads praise and worship using her original songs as well as popular Christian music and a secular song or two. She explains the Biblical origin of praise and worship and encourages intimacy with the Lord by her witness. Aly uses these concerts to glorify God who writes the songs through her.  She also leads music for Mass and Adoration when invited.

Aly is quite granola. She loves hardcore adventuring–rock climbing, traveling, hiking, horseback riding, and dreams of living in a van for a while, exploring the world (even more so than the van life she’s used to with band tours). She’s obsessed with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups–one time she bought herself a giant Reese’s Cup and started crying because the scent was so beautiful.

Sonar Worship chose to highlight and raise money for Haiti180, a charity whose mission is to “create the opportunity to form well educated leaders of faith for the future of Haiti and to make sure every child in our care has a childhood that is filled with love and joy.”

Thanks to donors and a matching grant from Catholic United Financial, we raised $2,300!

We are a Catholic band from St. Paul, Minnesota with roots in many genres from electronic dance music to rock and pop to country and bluegrass. We are at home with both contemporary worship and traditional hymns. And whether it’s a gathering of a few hundred or an event for tens of thousands, we are always striving to draw others deeper into worship through our music.

Sometimes we need a little help to let go and let God – to shake off the routine and prepare for the extraordinary. Sonar gets the Church on its feet to break the ice and just have a bit of fun! We respond to the Lord’s movement in our lives in a special way when we come together as a community and unite our voices in praise. Sonar uses its music to create an environment for the community to do just that.

Jon chose to highlight and raise money for the Office of Youth Discipleship and Evangelization of the Sioux Falls Diocese, which seeks to partner with parishes and families to foster opportunities for youth to encounter the person of Jesus Christ and to cultivate an atmosphere for that relationship to grow.

Thanks to donors and a matching grant from Catholic United Financial, we raised $440!

I am passionate about communicating the love of Jesus Christ to others through story, worship, and coaching. Over the past 10 years, it has been an honor to partner with ministries across the Midwest, including the Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls’ 125th Anniversary Legacy Event and Youth Conferences, the Middle School Youth Festival in the Diocese of Winona-Rochester, the Champions of the Tau Youth Conference for the Diocese of Sioux City, RiseFest Christian Music Festival for Rise Ministries, Partnership for Youth, the Ministry Arts Academy, the 2019 NCEA Conference, and many individual churches, seminars, camps, and retreats.

Luke chose to highlight and raise money for the Good Father Program sponsored by Pregnancy Choices, an agency that offers no-cost certified coaching in a confidential, supportive environment for those experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and sexual health concerns.

Thanks to donors and a matching grant from Catholic United Financial, we raised $2,000!

Born in Minneapolis Minnesota, Luke began writing songs at the age of 16 and composed all of the music on his debut album, Be still, before he graduated high school. He continued to write music throughout his college years and in 2010 he recorded and released, Be still, followed by his second album, No Other Way, in 2011. In 2012 Luke’s intricate guitar style and warm captivating vocals attracted three-time Grammy Award-winning artist Ben Harper. Luke then opened for Harper’s first-ever solo acoustic tour in both the U.S. and Canada.

Harper went on to produce Spehar’s third album, All Is Gift in 2015. Following the release Luke married his wife Elizabeth and together, as newlyweds, they toured the country. This adventure was the catalyst for Spehar’s fourth release, The Pilgrim (2018). Together with their three young daughters, Luke and Elizabeth live in St. Paul, MN.
