How Impact Teams Work

Getting started is easy.

  1. Choose Your Cause. Identify a project or community need you’re passionate about addressing.
  2. Build Your Team. Invite at least four friends, family members or neighbors to join you.
  3. Apply Online. Complete the Impact Team application.
  4. Receive Your Project Kit. Once approved, we’ll send your project kit with funding, T-shirts and resources to help bring your project to life.
  5. Make a Difference. Do good in your community through your service project.
  6. Celebrate Your Impact. Submit your project report, photos and success story so we can celebrate what your team accomplished. Your team could be featured in our Journey magazine so be sure to take some really good and interesting photos!

Applying for an Impact Team

How do I apply for an Impact Team?
Apply online, and you will hear back from Catholic United Financial’s Member Engagement Team within 3 to 5 business days regarding the status of your application.

Who is eligible to apply for an Impact Team?
Any Catholic United Financial policy-holding member who is 18 or older is eligible and encouraged to apply. A maximum of two Impact Teams per household may be approved in a calendar year. Previous Impact Teams must be fully completed, including submission of the required follow-up report and photos, before future projects can be approved.

How old do I need to be to lead an Impact Team?
The minimum age to lead an Impact Team is 18.

Projects and Activities

I need inspiration. Where can I find ideas for Impact Team projects?
Our Good Things Start Here: Brainstorming Tool (PDF) provides great ideas to help you get started.

What activities would qualify for an Impact Team?
Any project in your community that requires volunteers and aligns with Catholic United Financial’s values. This can be your own homegrown activity or an existing project (not already sponsored by a Catholic United Financial Council) that needs volunteer support. Impact Teams are not eligible for matching funds, but they are tons of fun.

Guidelines

What does each Impact Team receive?
Each Impact Team will receive a $150 funding card. These funds are intended for the purchase of materials and supplies needed to complete your project and may not be donated to an individual or organization. Spend it all in one place or across multiple purchases. Impact Teams also receive five complimentary T-shirts to be worn during the project, water bottle stickers, name tags and a sign to hold up in group photos.

When are the follow-up form, success story and photos from my project due?
We request that you submit your follow-up form, success story and project photos within two weeks of completing your project so we can celebrate your impact.

How many Impact Teams can I do in one year?
We love the enthusiasm. A maximum of two Impact Teams per household may be approved in a calendar year. Previous Impact Teams must be fully completed, including submission of the required follow-up report and photos, before future projects can be approved.

Can my Impact Team combine with another Impact Team to increase funding?
Impact Teams may not combine or stack funding from multiple Impact Team applications. Each approved Impact Team is limited to its own funding allocation.

Can I turn my funding card over to the organization I’m helping as a donation?
That’s a great thought, but the funding card may not be used as a donation. The sole purpose of the funding card is to purchase materials and supplies needed to complete your project.
